About the Wine
“Sancerre is home to some of France's tangiest, most thirst-quenching white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc.” ~Wine Spectator.
We love Sancerre, and so do some of the most celebrated wine critics in the world, like Robert Parker who described Sancerre as "a beacon of purity and precision,” or Wine Enthusiast who said it is "the epitome of elegant white wines.”
Born on hills where goats once ruled and grain once waved, the 2023 Domaine Raffaitin Planchon Sancerre is proof that good things happen when you swap tractors for terroir. This zesty, mineral-driven stunner comes from a family that’s been doing things their way since the ‘50s—before Sancerre was cool (and long before Sauvignon Blanc got its passport stamped by New Zealand).
Back in the day, it was Jean-Claude Raffaitin’s parents who started farming the valleys of Bué and Amigny, two postcard-perfect villages where the land speaks fluent terroir. Fast-forward to the 1980s, and Jean-Claude swapped wheat and wildflowers for vines. Cue applause. Today, with son Antoine now in the mix, it's a father-son duo that keeps the juice flowing and the family legacy alive—like a French wine sitcom, but with less drama and better taste.
Pair it with goat cheese if you want to keep it classic (Sancerre + chèvre = BFFs since 1936), or go rogue with seared white fish and a knowing smile. Either way, you win.
So yes, it’s delicious. But it’s also a story—a tale of love, legacy, limestone, and a family that decided to grow greatness.
Domaine Raffaitin Planchon doesn’t make wine for awards shows or red carpets. They make wine for your table, your terrace, your Tuesday night. And that’s why this Sancerre hits different.
Drink it cold. Drink it often. Just don’t expect it to stay in stock.
Tasting Notes
100% Sauvignon Blanc. The 2023 Sancerre is a Sauvignon Blanc with serious game. It opens with a bouquet of white and orange blossoms—think springtime stroll through the Loire with a citrus grove on your arm. Take a sip and boom: zingy citrus, a flirtation of tropical fruit, and a mineral streak that reminds you this wine has a backbone. It’s racy, it’s ripe, and it finishes long—like a good story you wish wouldn’t end.
