About The Wine

Step into the heart of Provence, where the sun-drenched vineyards of La Bastide Saint Dominique yield a wine that embodies the essence of Southern Rhône elegance. Nestled in the foothills of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, this family estate has been crafting exceptional wines for over four decades. The story of Domaine La Bastide Saint Dominique began in 1976. Four years later, in 1980, the estate celebrated a milestone moment as they proudly produced, bottled, and sold their inaugural wine.

Built around a former 16th century chapel, the estate was founded by Marie-Claude and Gérard Bonnet, La Bastide Saint Dominique began as a humble dream nurtured on just a few hectares of land. Now, under the stewardship of their son Eric, this legacy continues to flourish, spanning 123 acres and producing a range of esteemed wines.

Here, tradition meets innovation, as the estate embraces organic farming practices to preserve the richness of the soil and the integrity of the vines. The unique terroir, characterized by limestone soils and tempered by the Mistral wind, imparts a distinctive character to each bottle. The estate has been certified organic since 2011.

Eric Bonnet, the mastermind behind La Bastide Saint Dominique, began his winemaking journey in the renowned vineyards of Burgundy. Influenced by the region's delicate approach, he expertly balances power and detail in every bottle. This fusion of Burgundian finesse and Southern Rhône terroir creates wines of unparalleled elegance and complexity.

The 2023 La Bastide Saint Dominique Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is a shining example of the estate’s dedication to purity and finesse. Crafted from a meticulous blend of Clairette Rose, Grenache Blanc, and Roussanne, this wine captures the freshness, minerality, and complexity of its terroir. The vineyards, set on sandy soils with round pebbles, contribute to its vibrant aromatics and refined texture.

Aging: 6 months in tank before blending, preserving freshness and purity.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

All Clairette Rose, the 2023 Chateauneuf Du Pape Chapelle Blanc is brilliant stuff, offering a clean, crisp, yet still concentrated style in its orange blossom, honeyed citrus, toasted spices, and chalky minerality. It's medium to full-bodied, has a fresh, focused mouthfeel, beautifully integrated acidity, and a great finish. ~96 Jeb Dunnuck

Aromas of flaky pastry and apricot, then powerful on the palate, with rich, unctuous baked apricot fruit. There's good, deep-set acidity within and it finishes dry with a luxurious spread across the palate. Classic white Chateauneuf that has sufficient interest and flavour even without any oak. Drink young. Fermented then aged in stainless steel. ~93 Decanter

A blend of 40% Clairette Rose, 40% Grenache Blanc and 20% Roussanne, the 2023 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc from La Bastide Saint Dominique offers up aromas of lemon oil, blanched almonds and spices. Perfectly balanced with a ripe profile, it's full-bodied and enveloping, with good depth at the core and a long, spicy finish. Matured six months in stainless steel, it derived from vines planted on mixed soils (galets roulés, or pebbles, chalk and sand). ~ 92 Robert Parker

The 2023 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc expands with fragrant spring blossom, zesty lemon flesh and a touch of jasmine. Honeysuckle adds another aromatic layer. Medium-bodied, round and refreshing, the focused 2023 seals the deal with a bright and uplifting finish. ~91 Vinous Media
