About The Wine
Rod Bergland founded La Crema Vinera in 1979 in a Petaluma business park after working harvests for Joseph Swan, launching with a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir that same year. Jackson Family Wines bought the operation in 1993, shortened the name to La Crema, and invested over $12 million to build a Russian River facility focused on cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Pacific coast appellations. Today it's one of the fifty largest wineries in the country, producing over 360,000 cases annually—and the only Russian River producer with an ownership stake in a French stave farm.
Decanter gave the 2023 vintage a 5/5 rating: “The wines that were made from the 2023 vintage in Oregon’s Willamette Valley are beautiful. There’s a grace and refinement stamped across them, from their aromatics to their polished finishes. And there’s a precocious nature to them, too: perfect for those without patience.”

THE PRODUCER
La Crema
In 1974, Jess Jackson purchased an 80-acre orchard in Northern California and planted grapes. Jackson Family Wines was founded in 1982. The first vintage of Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay (1982) was released in 1983. La Crema (Sonoma) purchased Lost Hills. As of 2019, the winery produced over 360,000 annual cases. As of 2019, La Crema was one of the 50 largest wineries. Kendall Jackson pumped more than $12 million into updating and establishing its La Crema label in the Russian River region. La Crema Winery is a family owned estate in the Russian River Valley. La Crema specializes in handcrafted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from cool climate. La Crema was founded in 1979 as La Crema Viñera, meaning the Best of the Vine. Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke purchased La Crema in 1993 and produced the first vintage in 1994.
