About The Wine

Resonance is Maison Louis Jadot's first wine project outside Burgundy since the house was founded in 1859. In 2013, Jadot acquired the Resonance Vineyard in Oregon's Yamhill-Carlton AVA — vines first planted in 1981, among the oldest Pinot Noir plantings in the region. The project is led by Jacques Lardiere, who spent 42 years crafting Pinot Noir in Burgundy before coming to Oregon. That pedigree shows.

The 2023 marks a milestone: for the first time, this Willamette Valley bottling is made entirely from estate fruit. The wine matured 17 months in 30% new French oak, enough to frame the fruit without smothering it. 14,500 cases were made.

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir at its best walks the line between Burgundian restraint and Oregon's riper, silkier fruit — and this one nails it. Bright cherry and pomegranate laced with black tea, forest floor, and a subtle earthiness that keeps it interesting. Silky tannins, bright acidity, a long finish that builds rather than fades.

Decanter gave the 2023 vintage a 5/5 rating: “The wines that were made from the 2023 vintage in Oregon’s Willamette Valley are beautiful. There’s a grace and refinement stamped across them, from their aromatics to their polished finishes. And there’s a precocious nature to them, too: perfect for those without patience.”

Drinks now through 2033. Pull the cork tonight — it'll still be hitting its stride a decade from now.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

This so-called ‘entry-level’ Willamette Valley bottling is absolutely stellar. Pretty aromatics of Moroccan spices, pine bough and deep notes of forest floor. On the palate, an elegance and finesse. Wonderful red fruits, chopped mint leaves and lively blue fruit character. Forest-driven umami and a wonderfully integrated, supple mouthfeel through the finish. ~ 94 Decanter

The French-owned winery’s most widely available pinot noir is fragrant in rose petals, cedar and potpourri, then delicious black and blue fruit flavors on a medium body. Moderate tannins and a cool, balanced texture carry the flavors to a lingering finish. Drink now. ~ 92 James Suckling

An elegantly structured red, with vibrant cherry and pomegranate flavors laced with black tea and forest floor tones that build tension toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2033. 14,506 cases made. ~92 Wine Spectator
