About the Wine

“Sancerre is home to some of France's tangiest, most thirst-quenching white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc.” ~Wine Spectator.

Sancerre is an appellation located in the eastern part of the Loire Valley. This appellation produces red and rosé, but it’s undoubtedly the white Sancerre the flagship style of the whole region.

We love Sancerre, and so do some of the most celebrated wine critics in the world, like Robert Parker who described Sancerre as "a beacon of purity and precision,” or Wine Enthusiast who said it is "the epitome of elegant white wines.”

The Vincent Doucet winery is steeped in history, located in the charming hamlet of Plessis in the village of Sury-en-Vaux, at the heart of the Sancerre appellation. Just around 120 miles south of Paris in the picturesque Loire Valley, this family-run estate has been passed down for four generations. Since 1974, Maurice Doucet has overseen the vineyard, starting with only 40 acres and a farm that included cows, goats, and grain. In those early days, the vines were still tended by hand and horse, a testament to the Doucet family’s deep respect for tradition. Today, the estate spans 19 acres and is renowned for producing some of the finest Sancerre wines.

This isn’t just any Sancerre—it's a wine that reflects generations of dedication and craftsmanship. The 2023 Vincent Doucet Sancerre is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes, grown on the estate's unique clay and limestone soils. The terroir adds a signature minerality and freshness that makes this wine stand out. With a perfect blend of tradition and modern winemaking, this Sancerre bursts with vibrant aromas and flavors that bring the Loire Valley to life.

The Doucet family’s vineyard practices remain rooted in tradition while embracing modern innovations. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are gently pressed using a bladder press, and slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks helps preserve their aromatic qualities. The wine is vinified entirely on-site, from grape to bottle, ensuring quality at every step.

This Sancerre is amazing with food. It pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, oysters, and light appetizers and any goat cheese.

Tasting Notes

100% Sauvignon Blanc. Pale, lemon green color, with pronounced citrus intensity. The nose is dominated by lychee, grapefruit and peach aromas; rich and well-rounded in the mouth, showing a pleasant acidity length.
