Ramato is a wine style produced with Pinot Grigio. Its origins are rooted in the heart of Friuli but have recently gotten attention from winemakers around the world. Ramato comes from the word ‘rame’ which means ‘copper’ in Italian. This distinctive wine style is produced when Pinot Grigio grapes are crushed and their skins are left in contact with the juice, resulting in a tactile texture and a coppery color.

The family behind Stocco has carried a sword on their crest for generations — 'Stocco' itself is an old Italian word for sword — and the steadfastness shows in every bottle. They farm the Grave terroir in Friuli, a region that sits between the Alps and the Adriatic, where gravelly alluvial soils and cool mountain-fed breezes give white wines more structure and lift than you'd find further south.

"Ramato" — from "rame," copper — refers to the brief skin contact that turns the wine a burnished straw-amber and unlocks texture, weight, and a signature bitterish snap on the finish. It's 100% Pinot Grigio from flat gravelly land, hand-harvested and made with restraint.
