About The Wine

A love letter to the spirit of the California Summer. Each wine is made in the signature Jayson Woodbridge style and has a range of expressions based upon the selection of unique micro-vineyard blocks, dappled across the Western Sonoma Coast of California. Made with Jayson Woodbridge acting as spiritual guide on a white winemaking journey with the very inspired and talented winemaker, Ashley Holland, on a holy quest for the smallest and most exquisite little vineyards.

For more than 25 years, Jayson Woodbridge has built a reputation as one of Napa Valley’s most uncompromising winemakers, earning over 61 perfect 100-point scores for his Bordeaux-driven wines under the Hundred Acre label. Precision, intensity, and an obsessive focus on site have always defined his work.

Over the last decade, that obsession led him west. Drawn to the raw beauty, extreme conditions, and singular soils of the West Sonoma Coast, Jayson began quietly sourcing fruit and experimenting outside of Napa, determined to explore what Sauvignon Blanc could become in a radically different environment. Rather than extending Hundred Acre, he chose to create an entirely new project, Summer Dreams, giving the wines their own identity and the freedom to evolve independently, focused purely on site expression, restraint, and nuance.

“Walking on Venice Beach” takes its name from Jayson’s first walk on a California beach, which he remembers as “cool and wild at the same time.” The fruit comes from cool-climate hillside vineyards on the West Sonoma Coast and the Eastern Slope, including what the winery describes as one of the oldest Sauvignon Blanc plantings in California, dating to 1980. Goldridge soils and elevations of 900 to 1,900 feet give the wine its stony minerality and energy.

The 2024 Summer Dreams “Walking on Venice Beach” Sauvignon Blanc is about 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sauvignon Musqué, an aromatic clone that adds floral lift. It’s fermented and aged on its lees in a mix of acacia barrels, oak puncheons, and stainless steel, which builds texture while keeping the wine bright and focused.

Bright and lifted on the nose, with citrus, passion fruit, and lime blossom over flint. The medium-bodied palate brings sliced lemon, green mango, and ripe tropical fruit, with sea-spray minerality and zesty crushed-stone notes. Tangy, linear acidity carries through to a vivid, stony finish.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

Racy aromas and flavors of sliced lemons, green mangoes and flint. Medium-bodied with tangy acidity and a vivid finish. Zesty crushed stone notes. Old-vine sauvignon blanc. Drink now. ~95 James Suckling

Guava, mango, and passion fruit meet a wave of sea-spray minerality, with fantastic linear acidity running straight through the core. “It’ll give you a hard-on that a dog couldn’t chew,” quips Jayson Woodbridge. Perhaps, though, my experience was more akin to a refreshing walk in an alpine meadow, as the wine carries delicate floral qualities, hints of mountain grass, and a stony minerality that adds layers and nuance to this medium-bodied white. There’s a magical, zesty energy that brings perfect harmony to the ripe tropical fruit. Sourced from cool-climate hillside vineyards in the West Sonoma Coast and the Eastern Slope atop Goldridge soils at elevations ranging from 274 to 579 metres. ~ 95 Decanter

THE PRODUCER

Summer Dreams

Summer Dreams is Jayson Woodbridge’s deeply personal exploration of Pinot Noir on the West Sonoma Coast, created as a deliberate departure from his legendary Napa Cabernet work at Hundred Acre.

Drawn to the region’s extreme coastal climate, rugged hillsides, and distinctive Goldridge soils, Woodbridge built Summer Dreams as a standalone project focused on nuance, restraint, and site expression. The wines capture a darker, more introspective side of California Pinot Noir—layered, textured, and driven by tension—reflecting both the raw beauty of the Sonoma Coast and the uncompromising precision of one of California’s most exacting winemakers.
