About The Wine

Terenzuola farms terraced vineyards in Riomaggiore, the southernmost village of Cinque Terre, where decomposed mica schist and sandstone give the whites their signature salinity and tension. This is some of Italy's most dramatic and difficult-to-work wine country — cliffs above the Ligurian Sea, vines clinging to sandy terraces that define the appellation's character.

The Fosso di Corsano is pure Vermentino from Tuscany's Colli di Luni DOC, a coastal zone where the grape picks up sea spray, minerality, and the kind of tension you expect from a place this close to the rocks. The estate works traditionally: native fermentation, time on the lees in steel, hands-off winemaking built to let the site speak.

The wine is inviting and aromatic, with fresh stone fruit and citrus cutting through a rich, fleshy texture. Savory pine, rosemary, honey, and malt layer over the fruit, finishing with a bitter citrus snap and pretty mineral notes. It's energetic, complex, and deeply place-driven — the kind of coastal white that tastes like the rocks and herbs growing next to the vines.

Coastal Vermentino from this part of Italy is rare stateside — tiny production, impossible terrain, most of it stays local.

100% Vermentino from massal selections, grown in Fosdinovo at 250–420 meters on sand, loam, and fossil-rich soils. Hand-picked plot by plot from mid-September into late October; each plot is fermented separately at low temperature, then spends six months on the lees in steel. Citrus and fresh herbs, with a sharp, saline minerality on the finish. Serve at 10–12°C (50–54°F).

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

A restrained and fancy white with cedar, seaweed, pear candy and white pepper on the nose. Super textured, with a silky palate, a medium body, crisp acidity and fruit. Polished, savory aftertaste with a touch of almonds. Drink or hold. ~94 James Suckling
