2024 Vasse Felix Filius Chardonnay Margaret River

Vasse Felix planted the first vines in Margaret River in 1967 — the region's founding estate. Dr. Tom Cullity and the Hohnen brothers spent six years experimenting in a rammed earth shed before releasing their first Cabernet in 1971. That pioneering legacy still runs through every bottle, including this Chardonnay.

Margaret River Chardonnay occupies a rare sweet spot: the climate delivers intensity without heaviness, minerality without austerity, and enough acidity to age gracefully. Filius is the estate's entry point into that world — wild-fermented in old French barriques, textural but restrained, built to show what Margaret River does best at a price that makes zero sense.

The 2024 lands with lemon confit, white flowers, nectarine, and flint, layered with white peach, spice, and a subtle cookie note from the oak.

The palate is medium-bodied, textured and generous, balanced by fresh acidity and a phenolic grip that keeps everything in check.
