About The Wine

Baglio Diar is a Sicilian winery in Marsala where family winemaking meets certified organic and vegan farming — only native Sicilian grapes, only wines that reflect the island's land and culture.

This is Grillo done right: 100% estate fruit from sea-level vineyards in Mazara del Vallo, southwest Sicily, where sandy soils and year-round cooling breezes off the Mediterranean keep the acidity bright even under the August sun.

The Selene cuvee is named for the ballet dancer in Giovanni Verga's romance — a character defined by hidden depth and quiet elegance. The vines are Guyot-trained, harvested at night in early August to preserve aromatics, then fermented cool at 13°C for fifteen days. The wine rests three months in stainless steel, then a month in bottle before release.

In the glass: pale yellow, medium-aromatic, lovely minerality. Tropical fruit — yellow melon, ripe pineapple — layered with dill and rosemary. Light-bodied, crisp acidity, a flinty edge, and a finish that flashes apricot and orange zest.

This is what Grillo does when the farming is clean and the winemaking stays out of the way. The kind of wine you pour without thinking and finish wondering why you don't always have a case around.
