About The Wine

Surrau's 50+ hectares spread across seven vineyard zones in Arzachena, at the heart of Gallura. Sandy granite soils and constant Mistral winds from the Strait of Bonifacio shape the fruit — Vermentino grown on terraces close enough to the coast that you taste the sea in the glass.

Branu — the Sardinian word for spring, borrowed from the Spanish Verano — is the estate's calling card.

100% Vermentino from granite terraces around Arzachena, it's become the reference point for the Vermentino di Gallura category. Freshness is its core: citrus, white pepper, green apple, white flowers, and that unmistakable salty mineral thread.

Fermentation and aging happen entirely in stainless steel — three to four months on the lees, then a month in bottle before release. No oak, no intervention, just clean fruit and the granite substrate speaking clearly.

Bottled at the start of the year following harvest, it captures the lightness and aromatic purity the name promises.

In the glass: bright straw-yellow, luminous. Clean citrus and green apple on the nose, white petals, a whisper of gooseberry.

The palate is crisp, lively acidity, fine minerality, that salty precision that makes the Mediterranean tangible. Delicately dry finish, light-footed and full of character.

THE PRODUCER

Vigne Surrau

Vigne Surrau is a modern Sardinian winery rooted in the rugged beauty of Gallura, in the island’s northeast. Founded in 2000, the estate works with native varieties like Vermentino and Cannonau across vineyards shaped by granite soils, Mediterranean sunshine, and the cooling Mistral winds sweeping in from the Strait of Bonifacio.

Surrau combines traditional Sardinian character with a contemporary approach to winemaking, producing fresh, expressive wines that capture the distinctive landscape and maritime influence of northern Sardinia.
