About The Wine

Vino Lauria is the story of Vito Lauria coming home. His grandfather founded the family winery in Alcamo in 1958, but economic difficulties forced it to close in 1993. Vito grew up around those vineyards, eventually leaving Sicily to study enology at the University of Udine in Friuli. After working with wineries across Northern Italy, he returned home in 2005 with a very specific idea: bring the family winery back to life, but make Sicily his own way.

For the next five years, Vito worked as an enologist while rebuilding the old family winery on the side. In 2010, he finally released his first wines under the Vino Lauria name. Today, he farms organically and focuses on the native grapes that have always belonged to this corner of Sicily—letting them speak for themselves rather than turning them into bigger, heavier wines.

This is 100% Catarratto, one of Sicily's signature white grapes. The vineyards around Alcamo benefit from altitude and Mediterranean breezes, helping the grapes hold onto the freshness that can be difficult to preserve under Sicily's intense sun. Lauria's white grapes are grown primarily on calcareous soils, adding another layer of mineral character.

And that philosophy comes through in the glass. Lemon, grapefruit, green apple, white flowers and Mediterranean herbs lead into a lively palate of lime and peach, with bright acidity and a subtle mineral, almost saline edge. It's fresh rather than heavy, expressive without trying too hard.

The 2025 vintage is ready to drink now, especially well chilled. It's the kind of wine that works with seafood, salads, grilled vegetables—or simply an afternoon when the weather is doing its very Sicilian thing.

This is what smart drinking looks like: native Sicilian fruit, a serious winemaking story, and a price that makes reaching for another bottle an easy decision.

THE PRODUCER

Vino Lauria

Vino Lauria is Vito Lauria’s personal project in Alcamo, western Sicily. After studying enology in Friuli and working with wineries in northern Italy, Vito returned home in 2005 to revive his family’s old winery.

Today, he farms organically and focuses on Sicily’s native grapes—Grillo, Catarratto, Zibibbo, Nero d’Avola, Perricone and Frappato—making wines that favor freshness, balance and varietal character over the ripe, heavy style often associated with Sicily.
