About The Wine

Some Champagnes flirt. This one seduces. The André Jacquart Premier Cru Rosé de Saignée Experience NV is the work of five generations of growers turned winemakers, led today by Marie Doyard, whose family helped define Champagne’s very boundaries.

Meet Andre Jacquart, the epitome of grower Champagne. For four generations, the Jacquart family focused solely on cultivating the finest Champagne grapes. But in 1958, André Jacquart broke tradition, creating his own estate-bottled Champagne in the prestigious Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Grand Cru.

Fast forward to 2004, and the torch passed to Marie Doyard, André’s granddaughter, who moved the operation to Vertus Premier Cru. With a passion for vinification in oak barrels, extended aging, and minimal dosage, Marie infused the brand with her unique vision. Fun fact: Marie's paternal grandfather, Maurice Doyard, played a key role in establishing the AOC Champagne and defining its vineyard areas.

Champagne André Jacquart isn't just about tradition; it's about innovation and respect for the terroir. In 2019, the estate earned the HVE 3 certification for sustainable winegrowing, a testament to their commitment to quality and the environment. Join us in celebrating a Champagne house that perfectly blends history with a forward-thinking spirit!

From a 2-hectare Pinot Noir parcel in Vertus (Premier Cru) and Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger (Grand Cru), this cuvée is as serious as it is sensual. The Pinot Noir spends 24–48 hours in skin contact before the saignée, building that vivid rosé hue and intense character, then meets 20% Chardonnay for lift and elegance. A quarter of the wine is fermented in new oak, the rest in seasoned Burgundy barrels, adding subtle spice and creamy texture.

A minimum of three years on the lees deepens complexity before release, creating a Champagne that marries depth, freshness, and luxurious mouthfeel. This is a rosé built for more than toasts—it belongs with food, from duck breast to seared tuna, and has the structure to hold its own.

It’s Premier Cru precision meets Grand Cru pedigree, wrapped in the rare artistry of rosé de saignée. One glass and you’ll understand why this is called the Experience.

Rosé de saignée: Pinot Noir from Vertus (Premier Cru) with 20% Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger (Grand Cru), a quarter fermented in new oak.

Dark onion-skin hue. Violets, strawberry, and cherry over earthy, vinous Kir-royale tones. Fine mousse and crisp, refreshing acidity; substantial on the palate with an almost tannic grip and a round, long finish.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

Dark onion-skin color with intense aromas of violets, strawberries and cherries, together with earthy and very vinous, Kir-royal tones. Good, very fine mousse and crisp, refreshing acidity. A lot of substance on the palate with a tight, almost tannic profile, yet balanced by a round finish. Good length. Drink or hold. ~95 James Suckling

Firm, chalky and tactile in texture, with ripe blackberry and macerated cassis fruit flavors layered with ground spice, pastry dough, graphite and salted almond notes. Well-knit, presenting a spicy and citrusy finish. Disgorged November 2013. Drink now through 2021. 105 cases imported. ~92 Wine Spectator
