About The Wine

Laurent-Perrier has been a standard-bearer for quality in Champagne since 1812, when André-Michel Pierlot founded the house in the Grand Cru village of Tours-sur-Marne. Under Bernard de Nonancourt's leadership beginning in 1948, the house pioneered innovations like stainless steel vats in the late 1970s and expanded distribution to over 160 countries.

Today, his daughters Alexandra Pereyre and Stéphanie Meneux de Nonancourt continue that legacy of precision and reach.

Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé arrived in 1968 as a deliberate departure from convention. Where most producers add red wine to white for color, Laurent-Perrier uses a proprietary maceration method: 100% Pinot Noir from ten select crus in Montagne de Reims—including the grand crus of Ambonnay, Bouzy, Louvois, and Tours-sur-Marne—is hand-sorted, destemmed, and macerated for 48 to 72 hours at controlled temperature. The free-run juice is pumped over the cap every eight hours, then fermented separately from the press wine. The cuvée ages a minimum of five years on the lees before release.

The result: intense salmon-pink color and a palate built on ripe strawberry, raspberry, black currant, and cherry, backed by toasty smoke, candied ginger, and chalky minerality.

Wine Spectator called it "harmonious" and scored it 93. Wine Enthusiast gave it 94. The wine is structured enough to pair with roast pork or bouillabaisse, yet elegant enough to drink straight through an evening.

This is rosé Champagne as a technical statement—depth, precision, and age where others chase sparkle and speed. The shield-shaped bottle, inspired by 18th-century designs, became as iconic as the wine inside it. Six bottles at this price is the easy call.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

A finely textured rosé Champagne, this wine is rich yet with a fine dry core. It is 100% Pinot Noir, structured with acidity as well as red fruits. Drink this fine wine now. ~94 Wine Enthusiast

Toasty smoke and brioche notes on the nose herald this rich Champagne, joining a well-sculpted range of raspberry coulis, chopped yellow peach, candied ginger and crystallized honey on the palate. A harmonious version, integrating a firm spine of citrusy acidity with the refined mousse and chalky minerality. ~93 Wine Spectator

A top-notch producer of Rosé Champagne year after year, especially in this non-vintage bottling. Aromas of field berries. Crisp and refreshing. ~93 Natalie MacLean

Medium-bright salmon pink with silver reflections and a fine, persistent mousse. Red berry bouquet with nuances of cassis and liquorice, with some candied mandarin zest and herbal savouriness in the background. The palate is complex, almost opulent, with a ripe, sweet fruit core of preserved cherries and strawberries. The taut minerality provides precision and very good length. ~93 Falstaff

Laurent-Perrier's expertise in making refined rosé by the maceration method is especially impressive given the prevalence of this wine world wide. It's a beautifully judged cuvée, offering just enough fun in its poached strawberry and ripe red plum fruitiness, but pulling it into refreshing, silky shape with some citric balance and a tiny snap of redcurrant seed bitterness. ~92 Decanter

THE PRODUCER

Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut

Laurent-Perrier is a Champagne house founded in 1812. The house produces French wine with varietals including Chardonnay, Pinot noir, and Pinot Meunier. As of 2010, the company had 446 employees and revenue of €197.8 million. Founded in 1812 by André-Michel Pierlot in the Grand Cru village of Tours-sur-Marne. Pierlot initially worked as a cooper and bottler in Chigny-les-Roses before establishing a Champagne wine merchant business in Tours-sur-Marne.

The plots of Les Plaisances and La Tour Glorieux became the foundation for the house. Mathilde-Émilie Perrier introduced 'Grand Vin Sans Sucre' in 1889, a groundbreaking sugar-free Champagne that catered to British tastes. Bernard de Nonancourt assumed leadership in 1948 and expanded Laurent-Perrier into a globally recognized name, exporting to over 160 countries.
