About the wine

Errázuriz strives to produce the finest wines by controlling every stage of the winemaking process, from grape growing in the Aconcagua, Casablanca and Curico valleys, to winemaking with the most natural techniques. An emphasis is placed on the delicate handling of the wines, with the aim of producing wines of elegance and complexity. It is this dynamism and passion for wine that has made Errázuriz such an internationally respected producer of quality wines.

Maximiano Errazuriz founded Errazuriz in 1870 in the foothills of Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Andes Mountains and the Western Hemisphere. Recognizing that this valley, with its hot, dry summers and cool Pacific Ocean breezes, was ideal for growing grapes, he sent for the finest clones from France and transformed this barren land into a world-class vineyard. Today, the tradition of quality lives on with Don Maximiano’s descendant, Eduardo Chadwick.

The exceptional soils and cool ocean breeze provide optimal conditions for Chardonnay in Errazuriz’ coastal vineyards, located just 8 miles from the Pacific. The diverse soils control plant vigor, producing fruit that is balanced yet intensely concentrated, with a beautiful fresh citrus and mineral profile.

Tasting notes: Displaying an attractive bright yellow straw color, this Chardonnay shows a citrus profile with reminiscences of tangerine, pears and sweet cucumber, all framed by soft notes that reminds of toasted bread and dried fruits. Consistent with the nose, the palate offers pear notes, with an aftertaste of fresh citrus notes at the end. Great structure and balanced acidity that adds tension, providing excellent length to this Chardonnay.

Reviews

A tangy and delicious white with cooked apple, lemon rind and orange zest character. Medium body, bright finish. Very pretty wine. Always a vivid chardonnay. ~91JS

This chardonnay is from the first vines Errázuriz planted in Manzanar, nine miles off the Pacific Coast. Now ten years old, they produced a wine with vivid white fruit flavors, spice notes and firm acidity that creates a vertical impression to the structure. ~91W&S

Minerally and rich-tasting, with finely crafted flavors of apple, citrus, pear and spice that are supported by fresh acidity. Crunchy dried savory notes power the finish. ~91WS
