Harmonious Stunner: 2017 Ehret Family Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley

After establishing Ehret Family Winery with his wife Susan, Pierre Ehret began another career: race car driving. Throughout his driving career, Pierre has driven world-class Porsches and Ferraris in over 130 races, which we think is an awful lot of circles to drive in.

There’s a direct correlation between the focus it takes to control a racecar at high speed while making hairpin turns with the focus it takes to grow quality grapes vintage after vintage and craft them into consistently award-winning wines. That correlation is starting with the best materials. In race car driving, it’s the car. In winemaking, it’s the grapes. The grapes for the 2017 Ehret Family Winery Cabernet Sauvignon come from Knights Valley, an optimal site for growing Cabernet Sauvignon.

The location of Erhret’s Bavarian Lion Vineyards is tailor-made for Bordeaux varieties. The 400 to 800 feet in elevation vineyards in Knights Valley—one of Sonoma County’s warmest AVAs—are blessed with well-drained, very gravelly, sandy loam soils. Warm, long sun-drenched growing days are counterbalanced by cool evenings. Grapes get ripe during the day and gain important acidity.

The two balance out beautifully in this harmonious stunner, crafted by critically acclaimed winemaker Erin Green. The 2021 International Women’s Wine Competition awarded this wine a double gold and 97 points. The 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot blend is full and fleshy, ready to open now (but give it the time it needs to breathe), and also cellar-worthy, able to lay down for the next 7 to 10 years, at least. BHW has the lowest price anywhereon this award-winning wine.

Our price, (the price you won’t find anywhere else) is just $49.99, over 25% off. And, you don’t need a Porsche or Ferrari to race to the wine store for it. All you have to do is click.
