The 2012 Barolo Roggeri is a strong and steadfast, intense, and elegant wine, coming from 45-year-old vines, this gift is just beginning to reach its optimal drinking window.
Ciabot Berton has been growing wine in piedmont since the late 1800s. This long familial tie to the land has given the current generation a deep passion and knowledge to produce exquisite wines. It is because of this, they have started making moves towards more sustainable practices, including many of the practices of organic viticulture. The care and passion that goes into each bottle provide a product that is dazzling from the very beginning of its life. At 9 years old, this wine is just starting to show what it is really made of.
The four hectares of Nebbiolo da Barolo cultivated in the Roggeri vineyard are divided into three parts, including the oldest vineyards, planted about 50 years ago. The age of the vineyards, along with deep, clayey soil, produces grapes that are very rich in polyphenols, which give Barolo Roggeri its great structure, noble character, and pronounced tannins.
Aging: Aged in a mix of French and Slovenian oak barrels
100% Nebbiolo. Garnet red color with good depth, intense and elegant nose with fruity notes, well sustained by a sweet spiciness combined with sensations of violet and dried rose. Powerful and harmonious palate with a dense and complex tannic structure. Pleasantly crisp and savory, it offers a lingeringly persistent finish. Excellent with game, braised red meats, mature cheeses, and dishes served with white truffle.
