    About the Wine

Trimbach is one of the Top Alsace producers. They produce the highest-quality premium Riesling and Gewurztraminer wines, which constantly achieve great accolades. If you want to discover the true power and aging capacity of a high-quality Gewurztraminer, Maison Trimbach should be at the top of your list. This Maison is crafting some of the most exceptional white wines in the world.

Wine Spectator said, “In Alsace, although most wines tend to be dry and fuller-bodied than their German counterparts, Trimbach's house style is quite the opposite: graceful and intense, with an austere character.”

This Maison has been around since the 16th century when the Trimbach family arrived from Switzerland. Twelve generations of disruptive winemakers have impregned their expertise into Trimbach. Today, Pierre Trimbach, an enologist who graduated from Beaune, is leading this world-renowned estate.

Trimbach’s location couldn’t be more perfect. Its semi-continental weather brings extreme temperatures, with very cold winters, which are optimal for high-quality Riesling to thrive. The soil is composed of marl-limestone-sandstone and shell limestone (Muschelkalk), which gives Trimbach's wines a remarkable personality.

The 140-acre vineyard is planted with vines of 45 years of age on average. They’re distributed in some of the best terroirs in Alsace: Ribeauvillé, Bergheim y Hunawihr. Each of them provides different and exciting characteristics to the wines.

Trimbach’s vineyards are managed under sustainable practices and certified by the HVE3. For more than 10 years, they’ve been doing fully organic viticulture.

The intensely citrus-colored 2014 Gewurztraminer Vendanges Tardives opens with an intense, clear, and concentrated nose of rose petals, spices, and lemon confit. Concentrated, very piquant, and stimulating, this is a sweet, dense, and concentrated, but piquant, Gewurz with a gorgeous tannin grip. Picked at 18.6% potential alcohol and bottled with roughly 13% alcohol, plus 72 grams of residual sugar, 2015 is only in 375 ml bottles. ~95 Robert Parker.

Bright medium yellow. Knockout pure aromas of grapefruit, lemon oil, orange blossom, cinnamon and lichee are complicated by enticing notes of lemony, smoky botrytis. Wonderfully dense and vibrant in the mouth, offering strong flavors of ripe grapefruit, canned peach, marzipan and white flowers. Highly complex, chewy wine with a very pure, long finish featuring orange marmalade and lemon oil nuances. Made from a single parcel of roughly 50-year-old vines on the Mulforst, a site characterized by fairly rich, heavy Keuper marl soil. ~92+ Vinous Media.

A wine with dried apple, mango and spice character. Hints of dust and concrete too. Full-bodied and off-dry with plenty flavor at the finish. ~90 James Suckling.
