About the Wine

Franco Boasso is a barrel chested, self-described contadino. He considers his majestic Barolo an extended expression of his family which runs three generations deep in the rolling hills of Piemonte. The cycle of the seasons, love of the earth and the annual birthing of a new Nebbiolo are not metaphors from an Italian poem. Rather, they are the reason for being and the way of life in a certain part of the Barolo DOCG that is generally considered the reference zone for the best expression of this majestic wine: westward facing vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba. 

Azienda Agricola Gabutti Boasso has been family run since it was founded in the 1970s. Boasso has stayed true to family traditions accompanied by a continuous search for innovation focusing on producing a pure expression of Nebbiolo. The family oversees 15 acres of vineyards transforming select varieties into world class wine!

Aging: 36 months in oak casks.

Tasting notes: Red Wine. 100% Nebbiolo. In the glass the wine is an intense ruby with grenade nuances. The nose is perfumed driven by spiced, ripe fruits, dried florals, and tobacco leaf. A powerfully masculine wine, with musky, autumnal tones reminiscent of rain-drenched woods-a deep, dark, throaty wine with cedar and liquorice emerging from the velvety feel. Pleasant fruit, firm tannins. Fresh finish.
