About the Wine

After catching the winemaking bug while studying for a doctorate in Ecology at UC Davis, Mark Herold took a detour into winemaking. He successfully launched and sold Merus, a high end Napa Cabernet Sauvignon producer. Now, he makes wines of pleasure that are easy to access, easy to enjoy and affordably priced. We've had great success with these wines over the years, and here's your latest chance to cash in on wines of substance.

Tasting Notes

This is a gorgeous wine that boasts profound aromas ultra ripe strawberries, crème de cassis, ripe blackberries, black cherries and boysenberries.  Hints of graphite, licorice, crushed rocks and almond skins fill out this alluring aromatic landscape.   Juicy textures that are at once plush, unctuous, and weighty lead the way to flavors of blackberry, ripe peaches, brown sugar, and minerals.  Drink this expressively delicious blend now or over the next 5-10 years. 

Blend: 77% Grenache, 13% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah

Critical Reviews

The 2015 Flux, Mark Herold's entry-level red, is bold, juicy and inviting. Super-ripe red cherry, rose petal, mint and spice are all pushed forward in this racy, succulent wine.
