2015 Wind Gap Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
About the Wine
Pax Mahle landed in Napa Valley in 1997. Following a stint as a wine buyer at Dean & Deluca, he started producing wines. He particularly focused on cool climate Syrah. With the launch of Wind Gap in Petaluma, he began to focus on lower alcohol Pinot Noir sourced from organic and low-intervention vineyards.
This wine is a blend of several vineyards.
Reviews
The 2015 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a blend of six sites, all of them in the lower part of the Sonoma Coast in the Petaluma Wind Gap. The power of blending fruit across several sites gives the Sonoma Coast Pinot striking interplay between riper and more savory elements. The brightness and purity of the fruit is simply striking. Even better, the 2015 is a superb value. Fruit sources are Gaps Crown, Sunchase, Parliament Hill, Griffin's Lair, Bootlegger's Hill and Castelli. ~93VM
