About the Wine

Dolum Estate in Napa Valley is a first-class winery born 30 years ago with the ambition to produce super-premium red wines. Thanks to its high quality, each of Dolum's wines has built a solid reputation among wine lovers and connoisseurs.

The grapes to produce these wine gems are carefully sourced from small sub-districts throughout the Napa Valley (including Oakville and the Stags Leap District) that surround some of the most rewarded wineries In the region.

Chad Alexander is the mind behind these iconic wines. He’s a rockstar winemaker who worked in some of the most coveted wineries like Mt. Veeder’s Hess Collection Winery. With unparalleled attention to detail, Chad ensures that every element contributes to the ultimate expression of his wines. His pursuit of perfection allows his wines to rival and even surpass the very best in the world. His wines have obtained several high scores and ovations from some of the world's most important wine critics.

Besides sourcing grapes from some of the iconic regions in Napa Valley. Dolum has its own single vineyard that produces wine from low-yielding 40+-year-old vines on an Oakville crossroad on the eastern side of the AV. The vineyard is placed in a beautiful terroir with sandy loam soil over superb deep red clay and limestone, providing ideal conditions for Cabernet to thrive.

2021 is looking to be one of the vintages of the decade. Vinous Media blessed this year with a 95-98 point score, and said: "Two thousand twenty-one is a fabulous vintage in Napa Valley. That’s the good news. The not so good news is that production is down sharply, 30-50% in many cases. The wines have tremendous energy as well as finesse. In tasting, the 2021s show some of the savory intensity of other drought vintages – 2013 and 2014 come to mind – but with more aromatic explosiveness and greater inner sweetness."

Aging: 18 months in oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot. The rich and concentrated flavors of wild blackberry, cassis and fresh herbs are in perfect tranquility with the prosperous, velvety texture and beautifully integrated tannins. Radiant acidity and well-defined structure combine with lush suppleness that contributes to the refined silky finish.

Critical Reviews

Perfumed nose with aromas of wild currants, plums, mulberries, wet stones and thyme. It’s medium-bodied with finely grained tannins. Fine and textural with great balance and energy and a composed, long and lively finish. Better from 2026. ~95 James Suckling
