About The Wine

Domaine Brocard has held Chablis vines since 1973. Today Julien Brocard — son of founder Jean-Marc — runs the estate as one of the region's biodynamic pioneers. The family's holdings are spread across premier and grand cru sites, including just over an acre in Vaudesir, one of Chablis's seven grand cru climats.

Vaudesir sits in a steep, south-facing valley where 30-year-old Chardonnay vines dig into the Kimmeridgian limestone that defines the appellation. The slopes here are steeper than most grand cru sites, and the wines express a finer, more mineral-driven character — less power, more precision. The 2023 spent 14 months on lees in 100% oak, building texture without losing the tension Chablis is known for.

The wine opens golden yellow with silver edges. Lemon curd and fresh apricot lead, followed by orange blossom and crushed oyster shell. Full-bodied and silky, with a long, buttery finish threaded with citrus peel and brioche. This is Chablis grand cru showing its range: powerful but refined, rich but still taut.

The 2023 will drink well now but reaches its stride in seven to eight years. Pull the cork tonight or cellar it through the next decade — either way, this is what Kimmeridgian soil and biodynamic farming look like in the glass.
