About The Wine

“Sancerre is home to some of France's tangiest, most thirst-quenching white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc.” ~Wine Spectator.

Sancerre is an appellation located in the eastern part of the Loire Valley. This appellation produces red and rosé, but it’s undoubtedly the white Sancerre the flagship style of the whole region.

We love Sancerre, and so do some of the most celebrated wine critics in the world, like Robert Parker, who described Sancerre as "a beacon of purity and precision,” or Wine Enthusiast, who said it is "the epitome of elegant white wines.”

Tucked away in the quiet village of Montigny, just a stone’s throw from the castles of the Loire, the Henry Natter estate has been quietly crafting exceptional wines since 1974. This is not just another Sancerre. It’s a wine born from one of the most distinctive terroirs in the region—clay-limestone soils at altitudes of up to 350 metres—giving the wine its unmistakable tension, lift, and mineral elegance.

Behind every bottle is the Natter family’s quiet commitment to the land. Long before sustainability became fashionable, the Natters were already farming with a conscience—planting hedges and trees to protect biodiversity, avoiding weedkillers, building bee hives, and creating a sanctuary for birds and insects. Their vineyard isn’t just a place of production—it’s a living, breathing ecosystem. And yes, they’re on track to become carbon neutral.

This wine is about tradition, place, and patience. It’s a wine for those who appreciate nuance over noise. A Sancerre that speaks softly, but lingers long after the last sip.

100% Sauvignon Blanc.

Pale golden hues. A bouquet of good intensity with floral notes. Fruity aromas marked by citrus. Fresh and balanced attack. Nice length on the palate.

The sweetness of the Montigny vineyard, the respect of the crops on clay-limestone land, and a traditional aging in barrels – 6 months – make it a fine and elegant white Sancerre.

THE PRODUCER

Henry Natter

Henry and enologist Cecile Natter started their domaine in 1974 from scratch, beginning with a family hectare in Montigny. The Natter family domaine was the first on this side of the modern appellation of Sancerre and remains the only winemaking domaine in Montigny, a terroir noted for its preponderance of terres blanches, or Kimmeridgian Marls. (Kimmeridgian is found on the hilltops curving around the western edge of the appellation; Caillottes, or Oxfordian limestone, is found in the center of the appellation; and flint or silex is found along the fault line running north-south through the town of Sancerre itself.)

This soil gives great power to the wines, and a remarkable ability to age without oxidation. Stored properly, a top twenty-year-old Natter Sancerre retains astonishing freshness while evolving down to its elemental, mineral base.
