About the Wine
“Sancerre is home to some of France's tangiest, most thirst-quenching white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc.” ~Wine Spectator.
And, it's Taylor Swift's favorite wine!
Sancerre is an appellation located in the eastern part of the Loire Valley, west of Paris. This appellation produces red and rosé, but it’s undoubtedly the white Sancerre that is the flagship wine of the whole region. As Decanter magazine wrote, “Sancerre is today a Sauvignon Blanc stronghold in France's Loire Valley, known for delicious dry white wines with beautiful texture and refreshing acidity.”
Founded in 1921 by Paulin Lebrun, Maison Foucher started as a tiny Loire négociant delivering wine to local cafés. A century later, it’s known for deep relationships with growers in Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé and for bottlings that laser-focus on terroir. Since 2013, winemaker Marc Vappereau has sharpened that vision, bringing modern precision to classic Loire whites like Les Tuffeaux—a cuvée shaped by the region’s tuffeau limestone, prized for its finesse and unmistakable minerality.
This Cuvée derives its mineral profile from a blend of rich, well-balanced terroirs: 50% of the grapes grew on ‘Terres Blanches’ soils (Kimmeridgian marl), 40% on ‘Caillottes’ soils (very stony, made up of limestone pebbles) and 10% on ‘argile à silex’ (siliceous clay). This gives the wine all its complexity and a deep minerality typical of Sancerre.
Tasting Notes
100% Sauvignon Blanc.
Pale yellow with a flash of green, this wine jumps out with bright citrus and a hint of flinty snap. The palate is crisp and electric, packed with minerality and surprising depth that keeps every sip sharp, clean, and refreshing.

What the Critics Said
THE PRODUCER
Maison Foucher
Founded in 1921, Maison Foucher began as a tiny Loire négociant supplying local cafés, but quickly became known for its precision and terroir-driven sourcing across Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé.
Today, winemaker Marc Vappereau leads the house with a modern, instinct-driven approach—spotlighting single-vineyard selections, organic growers, and the limestone-rich sites that define the region’s most expressive Sauvignon Blancs. Maison Foucher remains one of the Loire’s quiet overachievers, turning heritage and intuition into bright, mineral, beautifully focused wines.
