Napa Valley is the leading region in California, but the prices of those wines have been skyrocketing. As a result, sorting through Napa wines that deliver high quality and value has been our mission. In addition, savvy consumers have been seeking out other regions in the Golden State to find value. Here’s a quick roundup of some of the best quality and value red wines we’ve tasted recently.

2019 Massif Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Calistoga Bale Series

Sourced from select vineyards, this wine offers a vibrant profile of ripe black cherry, plum, and wild herbs, interwoven with subtle notes of cedar and graphite. Silky tannins and balanced acidity lend structure and grace, while a whisper of oak adds depth without overpowering the fruit. Approachable yet sophisticated, Ivy & Thistle reflects the thoughtful craftsmanship Erikson & Caradin is known for — a wine of nuance, character, and undeniable charm.

2023 Beau Vigne 'Cult' Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

The 2023 Beau Vigne 'Cult' Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold and complex wine from Napa Valley, featuring rich flavors of dark fruits like blackberry and cassis, along with hints of espresso, tobacco, and graphite. Full-bodied with smooth tannins and a powerful structure, it offers both immediate enjoyment and aging potential. Known for its exceptional quality, Beau Vigne has crafted a wine that beautifully balances power and elegance, making the 2023 'Cult' a standout choice for any wine enthusiast.

2022 Jean Hoefliger Collide Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley

Jean Hoefliger may not be a name you recognize, but you most likely have heard of Alpha Omega which is a winery he helped put on the map with his opulent and precise style of winemaking. Jean is from Switzerland and trained at none other than Chateau Lynch Bages. This brand was originally launched by Mark Herold and now Jean carries on its legacy. For those in the know, Alexander Valley is an excellent alternative and the place to find excellent value given the ever-escalating price of Napa Cabs.

2023 Martellotto 'Kind of Noir' Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

This wine offers a rich bouquet of dark fruit aromas, including black currant, blackberry, and ripe plum, complemented by hints of cocoa, vanilla, and a touch of toasted oak. On the palate, it delivers a full-bodied, well-structured profile with velvety tannins and a balanced acidity. The wine's depth and complexity unfold with layers of dark chocolate, black cherry, and subtle earthy nuances, leading to a long, satisfying finish. Perfect for aging, this Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with grilled meats, hearty stews, and aged cheeses, or can be enjoyed on its own for a truly luxurious experience.

2021 Fiftyrow Alice Block Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Napa Valley California

2021 Fiftyrow Alice Block Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Napa Valley California

Napa Valley is a full‑bodied yet elegant Cabernet that opens with rich aromas of blue and black fruits — think blackberry, black raspberry and cassis — complemented by mineral notes like pencil lead and a subtle whisper of cinnamon. On the palate it delivers dark‑cherry and dried‑cherry flavors, touches of crushed violet leaves, and velvety tannins, framed by refined oak and a long, smooth finish often described with the classic “Rutherford dust” signature. With its depth, balance and graceful structure, it’s a wine that is equally enjoyable now or with a few years of aging.

2019 Grand Napa Vineyards Master Red Napa Valley

On the palate, it delivers rich, concentrated flavors of black fruit and velvety tannins, all framed by a subtle oak influence that adds depth and complexity. The wine’s impeccable balance and long, silky finish make it a standout choice for those seeking a luxurious, memorable experience.

2018 Brookman Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

2018 Brookman Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine enchants with layers of blackcurrant, blackberry, and ripe dark cherry, intertwined with notes of cocoa, cedar, and a touch of spice. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and impeccably structured, featuring silky tannins and a long, lingering finish that perfectly highlights the vintage’s balance and sophistication. Crafted with meticulous care, the 2018 Brookman Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a standout expression of Napa Valley elegance, ideal with hearty meats, aged cheeses, or simply savored on its own.

2022 Beau Vigne Collection Myth Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

If you’re looking for a Cabernet that combines power with finesse, the 2022 Beau Vigne Collection Myth Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect choice. With deep, dark fruit flavors of black cherry and plum, balanced by subtle notes of vanilla, spice, and toasted oak, this wine offers incredible depth and complexity. It’s bold yet smooth, with a structured finish that lingers on the palate. Whether you're serving it at a dinner party or enjoying a quiet evening, this Napa Valley gem will impress every time. Limited in supply, it sells out fast—so don’t wait to grab a bottle!

2022 Dolum Estates Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

2022 Dolum Estates Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Is a testament to the timeless power and finesse of Napa Valley. Deeply expressive and beautifully structured, it reveals concentrated notes of blackberry, dark plum, and cassis, accented by hints of violets, espresso, and finely toasted oak. Polished tannins and vibrant acidity provide lift and longevity, framing the wine’s generous fruit core with precision and poise. Crafted with care and intention, this Cabernet captures both the richness of the vintage and Dolum’s commitment to elegance — a superb companion for fine dining or cellaring.

2019 Goosecross Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

2023 Martellotto "Velvet Riff" Pinot Noir Napa Valley

Greg Martellotto’s Velvet Riff doesn’t tiptoe in with shy, airy fruit. It strides in with layers of ripe black cherry, dark plum, and wild strawberry, wrapped in silky tannins and laced with a whisper of exotic spice. The texture is pure luxury — velvet, as the name promises — but the power is all Napa. This isn’t made in big numbers. Most people won’t even know it exists. And those who do will wish they bought more. If you think Pinot can’t own the stage in Napa, one glass of Velvet Riff will change your mind.

2021 Frisson Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

2021 Frisson Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

This Napa Valley Cabernet offers a captivating blend of depth and elegance. Bold flavors of black cherry, cassis, and a touch of plum are accented by hints of tobacco, vanilla, and a subtle spice. The tannins are firm yet velvety, providing a smooth structure that leads to a long, satisfying finish. Rich and full-bodied, this wine is perfect for those who appreciate a classic Napa Cabernet with both complexity and finesse, whether enjoyed now or cellared for years to come.

2019 Armida Winery Maple Vineyards Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley

2021 Handley Cellars Kazmet Vineyard Zinfandel Redwood Valley Mendocino

100% Zinfandel. The fruit for this wine was sourced from Kazmet Ranch, CCOF Organic Certified. These older head pruned vines are dry farmed, providing ripe concentrated flavors. Aroma of warm black berry pie, black plum, and fresh moist earth. Flavors of brambly berry, black plum, anise, nuts, with hints of sage. Medium-bodied, rich and round in the mouth with soft tannins and delicate acidity framing the long-lasting fruit on the palate. A small addition of Syrah (10%) adds a little tannin structure and complexity to the blend.
