Aromas of tangerines and citrus rind with plums and smoke. Full body, a solid core of ripe tannins, and a long and flavorful finish. Bright and tangy. Drink or hold. ~92 James Suckling

About the Wine
The Bosco Agostino winery began as a grape-growing family farm founded in La Morra by Pietro Bosco (1904 – 1983) in the late 1940s. From the beginning through the 70s the Bosco farm sold their grapes to familiar Barolo houses like Prunotto and Pio Cesare. It wasn’t until 1979 that Pietro decided to begin bottling their best grapes under the family name. The enterprise became so successful that Pietro’s son, Agostino, a gifted vigneron and cellar master, joined the winery and took the reins after Pietro passed in 1983. Soon Agostino’s son Andrea finished his tour at enological school earning a degree at the prestigious Alba’s Scuola Enologica and joined the winery in 2000.
In 2006 a new modern winery was built allowing the family to take advantage of many technological advances when needed. This was the main turning point in quality level for Bosco Agostino allowing for more control over the many and varied aspects of the winemaking process. Today all fermentation is done in temperature-controlled stainless steel with selected yeasts and malolactic fermentation following also in steel. The wines are fresh and bright with pure terroir, elegance, and complexity.
La Serra is a historical cru of La Morra. The vineyard faces southeast at an Altitude of about 400 meters. The soil is Tuffaceous (limestone) and calcareous (clay/chalk). The exposition and Soil Composition endow this wine with both structure and tannins suitable for a long Aging. The bouquet presents complex aromas of berry marmalade and brandied cherries, with detectable spicy notes.
Aging: 29 to 32 months in barrique, tonneaux, and Solvanian botti.
Tasting notes
100% Nebbiolo. The wine is pure granite red. On the nose, the wine is intense with classic Barolo characteristics; Dried rose peddles, raspberries, cassis, leather nutmeg, anise, and truffle. The wine is dry, harmonious, with an all-encompassing palate and a finish that goes for minutes! Ideal with truffle-based dishes, meat dishes, porcini mushrooms, seasoned cheeses, and is also a perfect fit with dry pastries or chocolate.
