Derek is a rising star in Napa, and this Cab is evidence of his skills. It comes from a vineyard situated along the northern edge of the Oak Knoll District, one of Napa’s southernmost appellations. The cooling effect from the San Pablo Bay keeps the climate relatively temperate, creating a fresh, restrained profile on the Cerro Cabernet Sauvignon. What shines through is elevated red fruit accompanied by a lower ABV. The Cabernet is blended with a wee bit of Petit Verdot (just 5%) to add graceful tannins. 

This wine is one of the most outstanding values in Napa Cab available today, certainly one of the greatest values in the category we’ve offered recently. We have no doubt that Napa Cab lovers and collectors will quickly scoop up this recently released wine. It’s from the 2019 vintage that Bloomberg declares was “near perfect.” It’s an age-worthy Napa Cab full of red fruits, plums, coffee, and a comforting savoriness.
