The central coast authority, Jeb Dunnuck, called it an “incredibly successful vintage.” Wine Business echoed his words adding that “near-perfect conditions allowed grapes to evenly develop rich color and more complex flavor.” This is because the growing season, which historically is marked by extreme heat, was long and gentle with a cold winter, mild spring, and minimal summer heat spikes.
Major wine publications weren’t the only ones praising this landmark vintage. Paso Icon, Daou, said, “2019 produced possibly the greatest vintage” they’ve ever experienced.
