Do we start telling you about today’s offer with the fact that Château Montviel is located just one mile away from Petrus (~$4,000) and Château Le Pin (~$2,000)? Or that iconic winemaker Michel Rolland—whose expertise is called upon by at least 80 Bordeaux wineries—has consulted with Montviel since 1988? Or that the winery’s technical team is the same one in charge of both Château Le Gay ($84) and Château La Violette ($200)?
Put those facts together and they make this Grand Vin an incredibly exciting wine. From what Vinous declared a 96 point vintage, this full-bodied Pomerol is crafted in a “pure, precise, and incredibly elegant style,” according to Jeb Dunnuck. And James Suckling added, “This is a full-bodied and very rich Pomerol…” It’s ready to drink now, but Wine Spectator predicts it will age beautifully through 2036, and so do we.
