Poggio Le Volpe dates back to over one century ago when in 1920 the Mergè family started their very small production of wine and olive oil. In 1996, Felice from the third generation materialized the family’s dream, and so Poggio Le Volpe was born.
The winery is located in Porzio Catone, in the region of Lazio, just over 12 miles from Rome. The land is very fertile, made up of volcanic soils that are rich in minerals like potassium, sulfur, and magnesium, lava rocks, tuff, and sand. The vineyard is planted with traditional grapes like Malvasia del Lazio, Malvasia di Candia, Trebbiano, and Montepulciano.
Felice Mergè is the proud owner and winemaker. He also owns the very recognized Puglian winery, Masca del Tacco. Thanks to the impressive quality, both estates have quickly become Italian wine critic Luca Maroni's darlings.
