2015 Louis Latour Vosne-Romanee

I come bearing great news and an even better opportunity!

I know I am always looking for the best bang for my buck when buying bottles of wine, and I am lucky enough to pass this one on to you. 2015 Louis Latour Vosne-Romanée is a perfect combination of vintage, location, and producer combined into one beautiful bottle.

Vosne-Romanée is one of the most sought-after terroirs in all of Burgundy, and for good reason, the very top levels of Pinot Noir are achieved in this small village. With less than half of a square mile of total vineyard space in this village, and the majority of it classified as either Grand Cru or Premier Cru it all starts to quickly make sense. This wine gives you the chance to taste what this village is all about without the three, four, or even five-digit price tag.

The 2015 vintage was about as good as it gets for Burgundy. The Wine Advocate awarded the vintage a whopping 98 points, nearly unheard of for the region. Top producers, especially those with older vineyards reaped the benefits of the long and hot growing season that this particularly dry vintage offered. Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti reported that in 2015, his fiftieth vintage, "the vines were more beautiful than ever." If there was ever a vintage to stock up on village-level wines, this is it!

Louis Latour is one of the very first producers anyone ever hears about in Burgundy. Is it because the wines regularly receive great critical acclaim? Is it because the estate owns more grand cru vineyard space than anyone else in Burgundy? Or is it because the wine is just consistently good year in and year out? I would have to lean towards the latter because every bottle of Louis Latour that I have ever opened has never come up short. Even the wines from the cold and wet vintages hold a special place in my heart, and the wines from great vintages like 2015 are some of the most special bottles I have drunk to date.

This is a perfect introduction to the quality of wine that high-end burgundy is capable of producing. This is absolutely delicious right now and has the legs to age gracefully for another decade. This is the kind of wine that I want to drink every single day.
