Legend has it that it was the grape served at the Last Supper. We don’t know if that part of its history is accurate, but we do know that the grape spread south of Rome to Manduria where the most esteemed Primitivo DOCs now reside. Here it thrives year-round in the sunny, warm climate as breezes from the Ionian Sea keep it cool.
