Only 100 Cases Produced 100% Cab From the Best Barrels: 2013 Grassi Riserva Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Let’s do the math: 100 cases produced, that’s a total of 1,200 bottles made of the exquisite 2013 Grassi Riserva Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley. With 11 years under its belt (minus 1.6 years cozied up in 100% new oak barrels), opportunities to snag a bottle of this top-tier wine are as rare as they come.

This wine is a dream come true. They have kept a small amount of it for the tasting room only. Upon tasting it… we had to beg and plead to get this wine over to you, Hammerheads.

🏡This family-owned winery is truly a hidden gem nestled just south of the Stags Leap District AVA. Their vineyard, situated in Coombs gravelly loam, results in grapes of unparalleled concentration and character. Antonio Galloni himself has praised it as one of his 'favorite under-the-radar producers in Napa Valley.'

🍷Meet the powerhouse duo: The Winemaker, acclaimed as “Wine Enthusiast's 40 Under 40 Tastemakers” in 2019, brings expertise from top estates like Screaming Eagle and Dalla Valle, as well as directing winemaking at Philippe Melka's Atelier Melka. And alongside is the Viticulturist, honored as Wine Enthusiast's 2020 “Viticulturist of the Year,” with experience spanning Pahlmeyer, Dana Estates, Atelier Melka, and Bordeaux's Château de Fieuzal.

🍇Ah, 2013 – a vintage that Napa Valley won’t soon forget. Awarded a stellar 98+ points by Vinous Media who said, "A once-in-a-generation, modern-day classic. Simply put, the 2013 Napa Cabernets are some of the most profound, riveting, young wines I have tasted anywhere in the world.”

This wine is a classic full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon, epitomizing pure luxury.

Vinous Media had the pleasure of tasting this wine back in 2015, with Antonio Galloni awarding it 93 points. Just a year later, James Suckling sampled it and echoed Galloni's sentiment, declaring it an “upgrade from the already excellent 2012 vintage”. I can assure you, had they tasted it last week – just as we did – they would have been utterly enamored. That 93-point score? It would undoubtedly surpass 97+ today. Time has certainly worked its magic on this exceptional wine.
